One Life to Live

One Life to Live is an okay show, but sometimes the story lines are pretty slow. I really want to see if Todd finds out that little Tommy is his son and I want to see if they let Nash and Jessica finally get together. The other story lines are really long and boring to, so actually I don't know why I am still watching it. I have missed a lot of shows because of classes, but everytime I do get to watch, they are always still on the same story. I guess, I don't know what to think of the show. I know I will still watch it.

American Idol

Okay, so I am an American idol fan and I try to watch every season but this season is the worst by far. Where is the talent? I mean this season is not filled with as much talent as the other seasons. I think American Idol has lost its edge. Everyone sounds the same to me. What the producers of this show need to do is hire me as a judge because the ones they have now are slackin'. I know that it is the beginning but whatever happened to starting things off with a bang.

Dialogue topic

I choose seat belts as a topic for my dialogue. I feel its a good topic because theirs two sides to the argument. Some people feel seat belts are uncomfortable, and that its better to drive without them. Then you have the other side that feels that seat belts are very important and necessary to wear when driving.

Grammy's

I didn't watch the Grammes, but I heard that they were real good. I saw the clip on Yahoo Lunch Music Videos, the performance of Justin Timberlake and the finalist of the My Grammy Moment. That girl could really blow! She had a very pretty voice.

My five questions

1) When you were younger, did anyone encourage you to read?
No not really. Me being the only child in my mom's house encouraged me to read.
2) Would you say that most people today have access to technology?
Yes
3) What do you think a good writer is?
Someone who can get their point across for someone to understand.
4) What would you do to help someone who doesn't know how to use a computer learn how to use them?
Start with what they do know and go from there.
5) Do you know any other languages? How did You learn them?
Very little Spanish, French, and Arabic. I learned it in my schools.

Dialogue Topic

I choose a sport topic for my dialogue. I choose a sports topic because there are many stats and graphs that a person can use when arguing. Sports are also major discussion factors in everyday conversation. Sport are found in various caltures and are meaningful to those caltures. So I thought since sport are a large topic, talked about so much, and in most countries it would be a good topic to put into dialogue.

I'm lost part.2

yeah i dont know what to write about or which assignment this is but if it is about the fictional story we were writing then yeah i wrote about, a young man with a multiple personality disorder. with many other "people" inside of him.. but yeah i think the story is interesting and i hope JILL thinks it is a good story...lol

Helping Words

The response when I got my paper back from my peer he said it was really good. The story was flowing right from the start. He said it had an ending where you just can't put the paper down. The only thing that he said would be good to change is the ending. It was a dramatic ending that ended fast with not much wrap up. I was supprised with how much the story was liked. I did change the ending to give the story more closure but kept the ending the same.

bloggin it up

Im still not sure what i am going to do for my dialogue. I suppose i could have people discussing the true interpretation of Shostakovitch's work, or have military officials trying to decide to denounce him again or not, but that would be hard for me to do, or find resources about. I kind of dont want to pick a new topic, because as said thats like starting over again. Oh well, i guess ill do some more research and try to decide again later.

Dialog Topic

I chose to dialog the topic of health care. It's been talked about in the news recently and seems interesting enough to do a dialog on it. It was hard coming up with more than two sides to the arguement, but it is vague enough to find more. This topic will make a good dialog because I hear politicians do it, so I know that it can be done.

I'm Losing It!!

Okay for starters, I'm not good at science at all. My major is physical therapy and I have six more science classes left. Not good. I'm in bio1510 and I'm struggling. Humm..... All of my other classes are great.(Health and english aren't the hardest classes but they are not really easy either) I need more of a condensed class when it comes to science. I need that one on one help. I don't want to change my major but I dont know what to do. I failed my first test in Bio and its like my motivation to go to lecture is shot to hell. It's like why go to lecture, sit there and listen to her talk and leave still being as empty headed as I was when I walked in. People say get tutors but others say it isnt worth it. I know about the SI lady but her times are janky.(whack) I dont want to fail out it but I dont want to change my major. But I have 6 MORE science classes left as an undergrade.
Clueless In Science

Platos What?

Okay, they really have me with the names that I can hlaf way pronounce. It took me to read almost two pages to realize what this dialogue was really about. Honestly I read a lot of it, but I still dont get the most of it. I tried. Something about a tale or something.

Dialogue

While in class Monday, my group and I decided to do our dialogue on Marijuanna so that is what I will post as my blogg.

M: I've just finished eating and I want a joint. T do you want to smoke?
T: I dont care. (T is easily influenced by his peers)
B: If you all are about to smoke, I'm leaving because Smoking is bad for you and i'm not going to be apart of this.
M: No one asked you. I asked T if he wanted to smoke. Take your square self away from here talking about smoking is bad. It helps me take a load of stress off from my everyday life. God put this weed on earth for us to smoke. I mean you can't eat it, chew it, cook with it, all you can do is grow it and smoke it. I mean think about it.
T: Like I said it doesnt matter. If you want me to smoke with you I will.
B:T, you need to not be so easily influenced. Just because someone askes you to smoke, you do it. Be your own person. I'm leaving.
M: So you gone smoke or not?
T: No
M: I will smoke by myself

My Dialogue Topic

Topic: Sports and Steroids

I choose this topic because I believe that I can make it interesting and enertaining. I'm not sure if anyone has choosen the same topic as me. I believe that I can make my topic very ineresting to my audience. It will have violence, drama, and action. I really haven't figured out how many sides there are to this topic, but there is more than 2.

It's Been Four Years

Yesterday, something amazing happend. I had a canceled class (this class). This was the closest thing to a "Snow Day" that I have had in four years. I went to school in Roseville, and our administration was anti-snow-day. I remember going to school when every city that boarders mine, had the day off. As insignificant as it may seem, being able to sleep in on a random Wednesday in February was something I have longed for now for over four years. My last Snow Day was my 9th grade year, and in Roseville, 9th grade is Jr High. I never once had one my entire high school career.

I have to say, I would have posted this yesterday, but the snow made problems for my Internet connection. Anyways, I just wanted to thank Jill for giving me the best Valentine's Day gift anyone could ask for... 3 extra hours of sleep.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a issue that developed in my short story between the main character and her boyfriend. I think that I will be able develop a design plan and also a interesting dialogue scene about this topic. The seriousness of this topic will be challenged in my dialogue by questioning how and why domestic violence occurs and who the victims are. I plan to use the four characters voices to reflected the research I did on this topic.

My Class

Today, I went to my Econ class because unlike my other teachers, she did not cancel class. When I got to her class, it was only about 7 other students that showed up. My teacher likes to teach a huge class, so she waited about 10 minutes and then decided to write "Class Is Canceled," in big letters, on the board. Everybody was so mad because that was a big waste of time. However, the thing that really pissed me off was how we found out that she knew a lot of people were not coming because the emailed her ahead of time. I guess she thought they were just playing when they said they weren't going to show up. Teachers can be so crazy!!!!

woohoo!

I've never been so gosh darned glad I cancelled class in my life. Even Baker has a snow day today--and they've got this crazy policy about "customer service" that basically states that students pay for class, therefore class must happen. Of course, I still have to come down to Wayne later for the Writing Center and a class, but it's not at 8am...

Anyway guys, you need to post two blogs this week. One is from last week: a short dialogue based upon a picture in your text or on the text's website, and the second has to do with your topic and how you plan to develop it into a dialogue, or whether you think you can. That should lead right into making your design plan, so it's not a waste of your time particularly if you're having trouble getting started.

Reading Comments

I learned from reading the coments that I should have been more specific as to what was really going to happen to my cahracter. I really didn't want to reveal everything because I wanted to put it into my actual story. It suprised me that more people that I thought responed so positivlely to my outline and were actually looking forward to the final product. I will fully develope my characters and situations in my story. PS... After I actually finished the story, I still couldn't come up with a title. This isn't new for me. I never know what the title will be for any of my short stories. While driving to school this morning, it hit me...Simply Because Of Love.

Strawberries and Papayas

Strawberries and Papayas are so very good. I was at home and I decided I wanted a fruit salad, but all I had was strawberries and papayas. I made my fruit bowl with only those two fruits and to my surprise, this way tasted better than eating fruit salad with all kind of fruit. I decided to make a frozen drink with the ingredients I had and that turned out better then the salad. I always loved strawberries, but papayas have just recently been added to my list of great fruits.

Greatest movie

Well my favorite movie is a toss up between Earnest: Scared Stupid and Attack the Gas Station. I have always been a fan of the Earnest movies since Earnest: Goes to Jail. When Earnest Scared Stupid came out it blew me away. I still can't believe how stupid Earnest acts in the movie. He gets put the hilarious situations and they always end ridiculously. Also, in all of his movies he is immortal for some odd reason.

Another great movie is Attack the Gas Station, a South Korean comedy/drama. It involves 4 misfits who choose to rob a gas station one night. Whist doing the evil deed, a customer drives up. Since they didn't want to arouse suspicion, they service the guy. when the man leaves a tip, they get the bright idea of working the gas station for the night. The events that follow are some of the most ridiculous things. How ridiculous? The ending scene involves a giant street fight between the robbers, police, Chinese Food delivery boys, and High School punks. Truly priceless!!

Favorite movie

I'm not sure of having a favorite movie but one of the best i have seen lately was "Blood Diamond". the movie was completely true and for once a someone actually tell the whole story. and the ending was one of the best i have seen because it was a realistic and "happy" ending. it isn't a movie to take the kids to,there are lots of horrific scenes and violence. but i recommend watching it cause you will learn how something so nice as diamonds make a country suffer so much.

THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

My favorite movie of all time is, "Man on Fire". This movie is full of action. It never has a dull moment. I wish I could summarize the movie for you in one blog but I could go on for days. I decided to just copy and paste this plot summary from www.imdb.com*.

Plot Summary for Man on Fire (2004)*

*A wave of kidnappings has swept through Mexico, feeding a growing sense of panic among its wealthier citizens, especially parents. In one six-day period, there were twenty-four abductions, leading many to hire bodyguards for their children. Into this world enters John Creasy, a burned-out ex-CIA operative/assassin, who has given up on life. Creasy's friend Rayburn brings him to Mexico City to be a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos, daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos and his wife Lisa. Creasy is not interested in being a bodyguard, especially to a youngster, but for lack of something better to do, he accepts the assignment. Creasy barely tolerates the precocious child and her pestering questions about him and his life. But slowly, she chips away at his seemingly impenetrable exterior, his defenses drop, and he opens up to her. Creasy's new-found purpose in life is shattered when Pita is kidnapped. Despite being seriously wounded during the kidnapping, he vows to kill anyone involved in or profiting from the kidnapping. And no one can stop him.*

HAPPINESS FOR EVERYBODY, FREE, AND NO ONE WILL GO AWAY UNSATISFIED!

My favorite book of all time is "Roadside Picnic" by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. It is a science fiction short novel (about 145 pages in total) written originally in Russian, but translated by Antonina W. Bouis. However, it is not like a normal western style sci-fi novel or movie. It is much more psychologically driven than what we are used to. There are are several places around the globe called "Zones". In these places, aliens have visited and left several things that seem supernatural or impossible to us. Artifacts and other objects that seemingly disobey the laws of physics and reality. Things that generate unlimited power. Things that will grab you up into what acts like a small black hole and tear you apart. A legendary object is called "the golden orb" which is said to be able to grant a humans innermost desires. There are people who traverse the "zones" to collect and sell these artifats on the black market. They are called STALKERs. The main "zone" exists in what we know as Chernobyl and its surrounding irradiated area. The story follows one of these stalkers, "Red" throughout his life and how the "zone" has changed him and other humans.

Fight Club

The story line for the movie Fight Club has to be one of my favorite, with its crazy and never expected ending. The movie if you haven't seen before is about two guys that are quite different from one another but they do share one thing. They are aggressive and love to fight. Together they create underground "fight clubs" which not only fight but in general cause destruction. The fighting is crazy and Brad Pitt's body is delicious. Anyways, the ending to the movie is the best part, it is unbelievable and tricky. And that is as much as I can say because for those that haven't watched it (which most have) I don't want to spoil the ending.

My Cold

I have a horrible cold and the worst part about it is I got it from people. If one has a cold, why can't they cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze? Why can't they wash their hands properly before leaving the bathroom? Why do they feel it is necessary to talk to people with snot all over themselves? These concerns have led me to be paranoid because I don't want anyone catching one of my colds. That would just be devastating. I could not imagine coming to class with the worst part of my cold, the coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose, and red eyes. I don't know, maybe I should go pass this cold on. I should just cough directly on someone and say, "Oh I just couldn't hold it in!" This has never happened to me, but it did happen to my friend. Nooo, I can't do that to someone. It just wouldn't be right.

Identity

Identity was one of the best movies I have seen because of all the twist and turn. This movie is about a killer who has multiple personalities. The cops and psychiatrists know about his illness, so they go through the process of trying to integrate all his personalities by getting them all in this one spot. Throughout the movie, there is this one identity that kills all the other personalities, which was apart of the integration process, but the psychiatrists did not notice that the integration process was to easy. There is a lot of other stuff that happens, but I fear that I have already said to much. What "got" me about this movie was who the killer was? i always knew that kids were crazy. This really doesn't mean much to me, I just like the movie.
