The websites!

I really enjoyed making the websites for the class project. I think that everyone did a awesome job especially because i don't think many of us have made a website before. I think that the media project was definitely my favorite and should be common in other class projects.

My nieghborhood sucks!!!

The way that they made my nieghboorhood is rediculous. It is literally cut off from the rest of the city. There is one major street going through it. On one end of the major street are train tracks. If there are trains going through there they go on forever. Then on the other end of the street is a river. The bridge that goes over the river is constantly going up to let boats by. There have been several times like today where there is a big boat taking forever on the river and then a loooong train down the road. If this happens you are literally stuck for a while. Then ounce both of them pass the traffic is terrible!!!!! This nieghborhood need to seriously build some new roads.

Favorite Song

I guess one of my favorite songs that makes me remember something is can you feel the love tonight. It's from he movie "The Lion King". The memery it makes me remember is my birthday from the year it came out. I spent my birthday in Illinois that year. My family is down there and I had my party at their house. They have a huge pool and I had a pool party. I got to swim all day and then I got to open my presents!!! My birthday cake had a picture of Simba and Nala from the movie. After I was done with cake and stuff my Cousin took me to see the movie at the theater. It was the first time I ever saw a movie at the theater. I loved it. It was so moch fun. That was on of my happiest birthdays ever.

Dialog

I chose to do mine on drinking and driving. Drinking abd driving or driving under the influence has been a major cause for deaths by car accident. When you drive under the influence you are putting your life at risk. Not only is your life at risk ut also the lifes of the other people on the road. My dialog is going to have four different view points. There are sveral views on this topic but I want to keep it to four diiferent people.

You Don't always die from tobacco video

The video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRHvZazd4IM uses some strong retoric. The man in the video had some complications after smoking. He know talks through a hole in his neck. Thiss leads people to feel bad and makes them not want to go through ehat that man did. It also uses logic to get peoples attention. It shows people that although everyone doesn't die from smoking they might have to deal with not being able to talk normally for the rest of thier lifes or other situations like going through cancer.

Easter Break?

Should universities celebrate christian holidays? That question leaves me a little torn. On one side I am a christian and would love to see my holidays recognized. On the other hand I can see how that would be unfair. If christian holidays are celebrated then so should other religion's holidays also. It wouldn't be right to only celebrate christmas or easter. Universities have such diverse people. They have people from many different backgrounds and religions. Other people shouldn't be forced to celebrtate something they don't believe in. I love my christianity but I don't think it should be shoved down other people's throats.

"Winning is'nt everything, it's everything"

Introduction and Thesis: Winning is not everything. It's a good thing that help's drive the world.

Support 1: People will be failures.

Support 2: There will be nothing to make people want to be succesful.

Support 3: Everyone will be lazy and have no drive to do anything.

Conclusion: Winning is a great thing that is needed by all.

Luck is when Opportunity meets preperation

Introduction and Conclusion: Many people say that they are lucky. But if they ever thought about it, does luck really have any thing to do with it? I think no.

Support 1: People just works hard and really don't realize how hard they work. And when the work pays off they think that its luck.

Support 2: Some people just have good odds on having success.

Support 3: Luck is not a real thing it's how much a person works and get succesul from it.

Conclusion: When someone get success they call it luck.

Annoying Friend and Classmate

Introduction and Thesis: Everyone has that person that always drives you crazy because they are to lazy to help work on the project. Well I beat people up who don't like to do their share of the work.

Support 1: Not fair that I have to do all the work and you get credit for my work.

Support 2: I will beat you up if you don't work like the rest of us.

Support 3: I will tell the teacher.

Conclusion: If you don't help with the work you will make me very angry and upset. It's not right that you do nothing and I do all the work.

Lengthening the School Day

Introduction and Thesis: If you were to ask a student how would they feel if the school day were to be made longer, they would probably say no. They would like for it to be shorter. But it would be better because they will have a shorter school year.

Support 1: Have a longer summer vacation.

Support 2: More time to figure out what they want to go to school for.

Support 3: They would have less time to get into trouble during the school year.

Conclusion: A longer school day will be better for students rather than a short one.

School Uniforms

Introduction and Thesis: Many schools use school uniforms to control the students. School uniforms are not a good thing for students to wear.

Support 1: Kids can't express themselves.

Support 2: They want learn about how different cultures dress.

Support 3: They will not be able to learn about themselves.

Conclusion: All in all school uniforms are not good because it prevents kids from learning who they are.

Media Violence has a Negative Effect

Introduction: Violence is the source of all entertainment these days. On cartoons, in the news, and in the streets.

Thesis: The effects of violence cause's society in many negative ways that makes all people change.

Support 1: Kids act different.

Support 2: More people are hurt and violent.

Support 3: There is less people that can be trusted.

Conclusion: When we use violence as entertainment more younger people use violence as an alternate to get through there problems.

Tattoo

I've been thinking a lot lately about getting a tattoo, and what is should be of. I decided that if I did end up getting one that it would be something meaningful to me. Something I wouldn't totally regret later on in life. I also decided to place it somewhere it can be easily hidden, because they aren't something you would like showing when you are in an interview with an employer. But what should I get? Ive always wanted to get a big cross on my shoulder, and I am italian, so I would like to play around with those two ideas and come up with something. I hear that getting a tattoo is somewhat painful, but I can't imagine it being that bad, especially on the shoulder. Has anyone on here ever gotten a tattoo before? Does anyone have any ideas about what to get?

Spring Break Disaster!!

So for my grade twelve year my friends and I had been planning a trip for years. We have all been friends since grade school and still stay close to this day. We all searched around for the cheapest price for our long awaited spring break in Cancun Mexico. Man was it going to be a trip of a lifetime!! We ended up hearing about a special deal from a company called Magic Carpet Tours. As we learned more about the trip we eventually booked the trip with this company, as well as many other people. As the time grew closer we all got more and more excited, only to get disappointed. The night before we were leaving I had my luggage all packed sitting by the door, ready to go. I was at the mall buying some shoes for the trip around 8pm when I recieved a call from my brother telling me to come home. When I got home my family dropped the bomb on me. The airline had called and told us that the company went bankrupt and we were without a trip. We were speachless. Everyone from our high school grade was going...except us. We frantically tried to find another trip, calling agent after agent but unfortunaltly we couldn't find anything it time. We than booked a rush trip to Panama. Not Panama Florida, but Panama. When we got to the resort we realised that we should have jsut stayed home. It ended up being a honeymooners resort. There was nothing there but couples and old people. After a somewhat depressing week we returned home and were the laughing stock of the school. lol...ahh the memories!

300

So I'm sure everyone knows about the movie 300 by now. But what you don't know is that I have it sitting in my DVD player as we speak. There is this guy that I know that can get any movie imaginable!! Ive had it for about a week and I have watched it close to 11 times now. Hehe. I enjoyed the movie so much I even encorporated it into my essay. I think the real reason why I enjoyed that movie so much is because of the greek mythology. I have always been amazed and interested in greek mythology and plan on taking that course at wayne state whether it counts towards my degree or not. Has anyone ever taken the course before? I would like to know if it really is the interesting stuff or if its just a bunch of boring history about greece we have all heard or seen before.

workworkwork

Well, the other week i got an added set of responsibilities. I work for a local web hosting company. While most work (sales, billing, tech support, remote administration of servers) is done from our canton office, we also utilize two data centers. gnax down in Atlanta, (we rent servers there, about 120, give or take) and a newer one, XO Communications in Southfield. In this one we actually rent out cage space, power, and bandwidth. We then build servers in the office and bring them down. Since we are colocating, hardware modifications, upgrades, and repairs are our responsibility. Now, its really sucks to stay in a data center cage all day, so we don't go there unless we have to. However, atleast one person on every shift (24/7) has to have security access to our servers at the XO facility. I recently got asked if i would be willing to be the person to head down on my shift should the need arise. Of course i agreed. I had to sign this crazy contact and then i got this nifty ADT proximity security card. Its kinda scary though, if i keep the door open for more than 15 seconds at a time, the fuzz busts down the wall. It makes me feel kinda needed and important to be the one to go down there when things explode. Hopefully a raise will soon follow. (probably at my next performance review)

World Champions

Ever since I was little there is one thing I always wanted to witness, at least once, and that was for Italy to win the world cup. As the time crept closer to the world cup I become more and more disappointed and more weary, thinking that I would just get excited for nothing. Now was I wrong or what!? I had the time of my life when italy finally pulled through. Here in windsor there is a large italian community, so we have our own little itlay. It is something comparable to greek town or mexican town. There were so many people all over erie street (little italy) you were shoulder to shoulder with the people next to you. After they won everyone rushed the street and we started chanting, shouting, dancing, and having an all out good time, all followed by the much hated parade. Every time Italy would win everyone with jerseys, flags and a car would pile into anyones care and we would all drive in a large parage all over the city screaming and yelling, cheering our team on. Im sure everyone in the city can't stand it when we do it, but we just have to! The parade was so large we had windsor police that came out to direct traffic so we would be able to continue in a straight line! Now that I have finally wittnessed a win, I can't wait until the next one!

Skoal, a pinch better ;)

Oh dip, how I love you so! For those of you that are unfamiliar with what I am refering to, perhaps you have seen me walking around or sitting in class with a fat lip and spitting into a bottle. I know it sounds grose, but there's something about it that I just love. It all started about a year ago when an aquintance of mine and I became closer as friends. Him, being a baseball player, got me into chewing tobacco. Ever since than the addiction has spread to a good number of my close friends and we all get together, have a dip, and hang out or go for a drive in the downtown area. Now the only good part about chewing tobacco is that it comes in many different flavours like wintergreen, peach, and citrus. I never anticipated the addiction becoming so great but it is the first thing I look for in the morning and last thing I do before I sleep. There are many more instances in which I have a "lipper" as they are called but I am just showing how the addiction can really grab a hold of ones actions. I don't think it is any healthier for you than smoking but it is definatly a much better alternative in my oppinion. Any other dippers out there? If so, I think you should look for the "chew boys" group on facebook and be sure to join!

High School vs. University

Through my own personal experience I havn't really seen much a change between high school and university. Honestly, is there really a difference? You pick your courses, fill your requirements, read your text books, write tests, do assignments and finals. Last I checked that was the same schedule as high school students. Now eveyone always talks about the workload being so much more difficult, but I am yet to see anything that is expected of me that wasn't already expected in high school. Mind you I speak from my personal experience being in the Canadian educational system. Perhaps it is different for the american students but I feel I have been fully prepared for university and it was definitly an easy transition. Anyone care to differ?

Family Business

I'm not sure how many people actually watch the food network besides me but if you ever do come accross it, look for a show called family business. I swear they stole my life and put it on T.V. The only difference between that show and my family is that I am italian, not greek. My father has an italian restaurant downtown windsor where my entire family works. My dad is the head chef during the day time, my brother is the head chef at night with another chef under him. My sister and I wait on tables with a few other employees and my mom helps out whenever there are special events going on. It has been great having the restaurant as a part of my life because it is a whole new lifestyle added into a regular life. At time it can be a lot of work, hassle, and it can get very annoying having that added responsibility which you didn't as for, but I wouldnt have it any other way. All of my friends love to party there before we go club and everyone I know frequents the restaurant because they fell in love after their first meal. I recommend everyone to come try the food, I guarantee you will be impressed!!

Running Count At The Border

Everyday I have to cross the border to come to school....twice a day. You would think after coming accross every day for the past few months that the border officers would get to know certain frequent crossers, but unfortunately that isn't the case. At one point during the semester I had a count running to see how many times I got pulled over on my way to school. I eventually got that count up to 8 days in a row. You would think they would be nice about it, but they feel free to rummage through all of your things and leave a large mess when they are done. For example, I had some folded clothes in my back seat and after I returned to my vehicle they were thrown everywhere and definately not folded anymore. So it became a large hassle to come over to the states so I decided to take some time off from school simply because of how much of a hard time I was having. The time off definitly paid off and it hasn't been that bad in a while. *knock on wood* Anyone have any border horror stories?

AIM or MSN? that is the question

Growing up in Canada I have always used msn for my instant messaging program. This helped me stay in contact with all my friends and make sure my weekends were properly organized. As I got grew and changed, so did MSN, becoming this great program is it today. As I started attending Wayne State I notice that the MSN of the states is AIM, so I decided to check it out one day. I was surprised at what I saw. This thing was so hyped up and did nothing but disappoint me. I think everyone should switch over to MSN immediately. There way more personalization, it is much more fun, there are more ways to interact with your friends and its definitly not as plain as Aim.

TPT?

So thursday night I recieved a call from Daimler Chrysler. They congradulated me on obtaining the temporary part time position and asked me to come in and pick up my swipe card. When I went to pick up the swipe card around 1pm thursday, they asked me if I was available to work the midnight shift later that night. Not really giving much thought I accepted the shift and sure enough stayed awake until it was time to go in for my first shift. As I walked into the plant I got soo lost. It took me a while to find my way around but I eventually got to my specific area. I worked there until 7:18am and realised that I had class. So I grabbed all my things from my house, got ready and rushed over to wayne as soon as possible, only to get stuck in traffic at the border. So to conclude the story I finished out a full day at school which ended at 1pm friday, so I had officially been away for a full 24 hour period for the first time in my life. Man did I crash after that....

Blogging is Difficult!!

At first the thought of simply writing about a specific topic on this site seemed pretty easy. As time went on it became more and more difficult for me to come up with things to write. I believe its simply because I am a very impartial person when it comes to many issues. I usually dont really care all that much to express feeling towards either side of a situation. I simply take things at hand and deal with them as they come. Now I am quite a few blogs behind and really need to catch up, so I would just like to ask everyone to bear with me while I continue to finish the blogs. Hehe, thanks.

Healthy Lifestyle?

As a younger child I was concidered the "bigger" kid. With that there was always lots of jokes and put downs coming my way. I was engaged in sports as a young kid but after a major illness it was recommended to stay away from sports for a recover period. In the mean time I took up weight lifting because I couldn't just do nothing. I was amazed at what weight lifting really had to offer. It created a healthy lifestyle whih made me the person I am today. It taught me discipline, realistic goalsetting, patience, and created a healthly hobby. As i learned more, and trained more my body and personality transformed. Believe it or not but weight lifting is a major component to my social success. As I became more of a healthy person it brought about a certain level of respect from otheres as well as appeal. These things made me more comfortably with who I was and allowed me to interact with all sorts of people. The results I have achieved served as a catalyst to makin friends and aquintances by becomming an efficient ice breaker for first conversations.

Canadian Students at Wayne State

Believe it or not but it's very intimidating to be at wayne state. Not only the new location, new people and new academic standards, it is a complete chang of lifestyle. Startin over is always difficults, even more so when you are all on your own. At first I stayed to myself and wasn't very active in the school community. I stuch mainly with other canadians and didn't really give anything a chance outside my circle of comfort. As time went on, sure enough I made new friends and started to become active in the school comminty. No more study sessions alone, lunches alone, or walking around not knowning anyone. I have come to realise that the key to success is the peopel around you. Fiends make things interesting and give you a sense of belonging which overall helps towards your personal success. At first I did not recommend anyone to come here, but now I make sure to tell everyone my personal experience and how much I have grown to love it, and ensure they will to.

What it means to be 19 in Canada.

Ever since I was younger I couldn't wait to reach this amazing age. Being 19 in Canada is the equivalent to being 21 in the U.S. Jealous? =) At 19 thre are no mroe restrictions set upon you. A person could do whatever they wanted, go wherever they wanted, and puchase anything imaginable. Windsor has been dubbed "Bar Town" because our downtown consists of mainly nightclubs, so it is a young adults dream to finally partake in the great night lide windsor has to offer. If anyone is 19 and wants to experience that feel free to message me and come party in windsor!!

Gool Luck!

Just wanted to say good luck in the future to all those in the class!

finals

wowwwww i got 3 other finals i need to do, the only one im afraid of is the mat 1050. that class is so hard mannnnn. i really need to study for that one , cause i can not take that class again, then is the econ, the teacher is retarded so i dont think i will fail in it that bad. but i honestly did not learn one thing in that class. and it is kind of sad because i paid to learn noting, but all that matters is that i did good in my english class cause im taking 3010 in fall and i just have to say again that i had a blast in this class and hope i can have jill as a teacher next semster again, so thanks and i still have 10 more blogs to write byeeee

myspace

how much i hate myspace. it is a waste of time and is only a distraction for students because they check it everyday and every time they r online , so that is y i deleted mine until classes r over, then im back
but yeah i think student will even get better grades because they will spend more time on homework. another problem is all the drama it causes and how much people get caght in the bull shit and i just think it is to funny sometimes but yeha i will be making another one pretty soon so jill i will be lookin for u hahahahahah.

finals? HA. Ive got bigger things to worry about.

I wish finals were the worst of my fears at the end of the year. But no. I have a much worse evil to face. My instrumental Jury. Imagine that instead of a written final, you go up with 5 of the top people in your field of study and they grill you with questions. You study for 2-3 hours a day, every day, for about a month and a half in advance. Thats pretty much what my jury is.

I've been practicing Weber's Concerto For Bassoon and Orchestra in F major for the past 6 weeks. Come a week from Monday, i will get to walk in by myself and play it in front of the Principle wind players of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In an empty auditorium. Talk about a stressful environment.

I love the piece, but im not looking forward to playing it infront of them. Too much is riding on it. Say...my entire scholarship for example.

http://fagotizm.karsav.com/sheet_music/weber.pdf

This is the sheet music for it, with piano accompaniment. I come in at measure 38 and play the top line.

This is a recording. It's not me, but i hope to sound something like that.

Concert!

The wayne state symphony orchestra and Womans Chorale will be giving a concert this upcoming monday.

Event Type:
Concert
Location:
Community Arts Auditorium
Date:
April 23, 2007 7:30 pm

Description:
The University Orchestra, under the direction of Kypros Markou and the Women's Chorale, under the direction of Abigail Butler, perform their final concerts of the 2006-7 season. Tickets are $5(students/seniors) and $8 (general) and can be purchased at-the-door.

I cant speak for the chorale, but the Wayne State Symphony Orchestra will be playing Haydn's 104th symphony, the "London". It's no Shostakovitch, but its pretty good. I encourage you all to go.

300

The movie 300 was a really good movie. It was filled with glory, honor, love, bravery, discipline, and blood. I don't recommend this movie to anyone who is squeamish, because in this movie there are scenes with heads getting cut The movie is very graphic but is very good. The movie is more of a guys movie because it's kind of macho, but I went to go see it with my boyfriend and we both were really into it. We both talked about it after we saw it we also want to see it again. He still talks about it now, but he said he is just going to get the DVD.

Need more MONEY!!!!!

I have so much to do so much to pay for but not nearly enough money!!!! I'm thinking about getting two jobs just so I can get by. I want to get an apartment and a car but again I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY!!!! Hopefully I will find a better job this summer so I won't have to work two jobs, but if it is necessary I will work as many jobs I need to work to get what I need!

TIME

It's the end of the semester and it seems like just last week was the first week of class..... Sike, this has been the longest couple of months of my life. I couldn't wait until the last week of class. Well I just want to say good luck to all my peers in every thing that you choose to get invovled in.

what is wrong with young people

i always get upset when i see or hear young people (18-25 ish) complain about government and politics, or about how they dont like how things are going in the world. it's like, dude DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! GO VOTE, run for office, something. Old people from about 50 on are the largest voting block in this country, and let's be honest, theyre going to croak way before any of us do.
young people have GOT to get more active in political issues, whether it be environmental protection, protecting civil rights and liberites, or whatever. find an issue that you like, and do something about it.
i'm getting tired of being the only young person that has an interest in what goes on in the world. we need to get less occupied by American Idol, Britney Spears, or Anna Nicole Smith, and more occupied with troop deployment, environmental pollution and government corruption. in the end, which of those issues affects us more?

Parking

There is a huge parking issue on this campus. I wished that I can come to class one day and not have to worry about driving for at least 15 -30 minutes searching for a parking spot. I know that I am not the only person on this campus with this problem. I think that the parking structure and or the meters should be free for students. We pay enough in tution for this to be possbile.

I AM SSSSSSOOOOOOOOO TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ssssooooooooo sleepy, exhausted, worn out, washed-out, drained, dead beat, out of it, getting ready to pass out on my feet, and sssssoooooooo very very very very and did I mentioned VERY TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems that no matter what I do to get some sleep or some rest it never seems to be enough!!!!!!!! I can't wait to finally get a fool day of rest and no worries at all.

My music

I listen to just about any type of music except for heavy metal and classical. My favorite genres of music is R&B and Neo Soul. These types of music is sootheing to the soul. I do know about anyone else but I don't like to get yelled at all day.

So it's the end of class

Jill says that I should post a few more blogs. I certainly hope to add a few points to my score by posting more blogs. perhaps i'll get on that. i still have a week to post some more stuff. maybe i'll do that later or something, after i finish looking over the final project. by the way, how's everyone else's project going?

Now What?

I've been following Oprah for the past two days and its been interesting. I am pretty sure that EVERYONE knows that Imas got fired for calling the womens basketball team some "nappy headed hoes". Okay so Oprah gathered a few black activists to basically say that Imus felt okay with calling them "Nappy headed hoes" due to the disrespect that rappers show black females. The next day, she had Russell Simmons, Kevin Lyles and Common on the show to refute the activists opinions. The main point they made was acknowledging that rappers disrespecting women is a problem but it cant be solved by blaming the rappers and rappers wont change over night. A few young women from Spelman College were there via satalite telling their opinion. To a certain extent I agree with the young women but some of the things they said were unbelievable. Like one said when her friends go to the club and a song comes on like "Tip Drill: by Nelly, they stop in the middle of the dance floor and just stands there. A LIE!!! In conclusion i feel like if a woman acts like a bitch or a hoe then dont be mad when you are addressed like that. When a guy is like "hey bitch " or Hey Hoe I dont get offended because I know they arent refering to me. And if they are trying to refer to me, they can take the tongue that they are using to try and degrade me and #5^&% t^7($@ mailto:^8%&TY@$@!!!!!! (be creative).

finally!

Finally, after all these months of cold weather, we get a nice day. Hopefully this warm weather will stick this time, and we wont have any more cold. I cant wait for the end of school however, so i can actually appreciate the weather, instead of being stuck inside practicing.

Campus And religion

I think that campus should be open during every relgious holiday because if the unversity had to accomdate to every reigion out there the y would never be open. I think that it should be left up to the student whether they choose to attend class on that said holiday.

Lengthening the school day

I don't agree with lengthening the school day, because I believe it will be an negative for students. Because of adding the extra hour students might not want to learn as much. I believe by adding the extra hour, it will decrease the will to learn. This is why I don't agree with field of education.

School Uniforms

I support the idea of uniforms, because when students have too wear uniforms theirs not much jealousy about cloths. In high school some students can effort more expensive cloths and shoes than others. And this can sometimes cause problems.

wow!

It is crazy to believe that we are already at the end of the class. I feel like I am so far behind in all my classes and that this week is going to be very hectic. Well here's to all of us that are stressed and can't wait for these next two weeks to be over!

Holidays!

Of course i am going to say that i believe university's should not have class on major Christian holidays. I say this mainly because i would rather sleep than get up for class. Yes, it is lame but an extra day of sleep every once and a while is a relief. For others a majority of people in the U.S are christian and they should be able to celebrate, but then the problem is revealed. If we allow Christian holidays to not have school we have to do that with all the religions. That may indeed be too many holidays to let out of class.

My Car

My car is really good to me, but I don't think I should drive it far out. I always rent cars when going to places like Cedar Point and Wisconsin Dells. I think it is a good idea to rent cars, but my family feels that I spend to much money on frivolous items. I will probably keep renting cars, I just want to know if anyone else thinks that my idea is dumb.

Phantom of TheOpera

My Favorite Movie is thePhantom og the Opera. It's about a Man who has lived his whole life below the theater. He falls for the lead soprano of the oprera house. she is in love with someone else and the phantom tries everything to keep them apart. In the end Love conquers all and the girl and the man she loves are together forever with no trouble from the phantom. The thing that I love most about the movie is the music. Also the romance of the movie is wonderful.

Short Story!!

The Short story I picked was "The Visitor" by Lorie Wick. It's a christian romance story. That means that it's a romance story without the more risque parts and instead has people talking about God and scripture. The specific story which is in the 1800's is about a man who after a ridding accident looses his sight. While on vacation to rest and hopefully regain his sight he has one of the town wemon to come and read the bible to him. Over the next few weeks he struggles with his faith and learns that he is in love with the woman who has come to read to him every day. when he regains his sight he must chase her because she feels that she isn't pretty enough for him. He finds her and tells her that she is indeed beautiful and tells her that he is in love with her. They then get married and live basically happily ever after. I love this book and others like it beacause i'm a really big romantic. I love that I can read the book without blushing. :)

The Song

The song that brings back memories is Promise by Jagged Edge. This song came out when I was about sixteen and I was with this guy and this was our song. The funny thing is he was an asshole and the song was his complete opposite.

Should school let out on major Christian Holidays?

I think that school should let out on major christian holiday's. I think this because most people are christian and if they aren't then their religion was formed from Christianity. A lot of people would be up set if they were not able to celebrate a day that was important to them and their family. If school were to continue on those holidays then those holidays will slowly lose their meaning to many people. Most of the holidays a re celebrated through out the whole world. So yes there should be no school on major christian holidays.

My Favorite Song

My FAVORITE song is R.Kelly,TI and T-Pain "Imma Flirt Remix". This song really makes me dance a lot. The message that R. Kelly sends is that he going to flirt with your girlfriend no matter what. I mean at least he is being up front about how he feels. Sometimes I feel like that because if your boyfriend is in my face and is flirting, I will flirt back. Its bad but hey. On top of the lyrics, the beat is crazy!! Well my favorute song changes every week. Probably it will be different next week. Remember.."Imma Flirt!"

My favorite song

My favorite song is Summer time, by Will Smith. Thats the best song of all time in my opinion. It reminds me of all types of family reunions and picnics. It's about the summer time when it's warm outside and you are chillin with all of the people that you are close to. It reminds me of all of the care free summers I had as a young kid. It takes me back to when I didn't have to pay bills, worry about school, or go to work. Those were the good old days when I was never stressed out. That song makes me feel good and not worry about anything at that time and moment that I am listening to it.

The Old Days

Back in the day, life was good. I used to have no cares in the world and everyday was happy for me. Of course, I got into my share of trouble, but everything was all good. My days basically consisted of going to school and playing with my cousins and friends. Now, I have to do everything. I have to make sure my bills are all paid and I ahve to make sure all my enrollment papers in school are in order. I wish things were easy since I am responsible for everything that happens now. I wish that for one day, I did not have to worry about anything, but it seems like even when I am on a vacation, I still have to do work.

Favorite Song

It's hard for me to come up with my favorite song because i'm such a music freak and different songs mean something different to me. My favorite all time song though is definately "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. it reminds me of my early days as a tiny tot. But like i said, different songs have different meanings. i really like "Disposable Teens" by marilyn manson. it definately discribes high school life with bullies picking on the little geeky kid. however, my senior year of high school cand definately be described by any number of missy elliot songs, primarily "Gossip Folks" or "Lose Control." i was probably the only guy in my high school to openly admit to jamming to Missy Elliot.

So anyways, just about every song represents something in my life. those were just a few, i really could go on all day.

Group Projects

I do not like doing group projects. I think I do good work alone. It's like in every class, the instructors always put us in groups. I know I am not the only one who hates group projects because everytime an instructor brings up the word "group," there are always many sighs of distress. I know being in a group is a social thing and it does help people communicate better with others, but some people don't feel socially inclined to particpate in group activities. I am one of those people.

Memories!

There are so many songs that bring me back to a past memory. The song Goodies by Ciara brings up so many memories of my high school days. I had a group of friends, about eight of us that would constantly hang out. My friend Jenny drove her mom's oversized van, and we all got together for the most part we just drove around in that car. We started developing games to play while we drove aimlessly, and even had this clapping sequence to go along with songs. I distinctly remember when the Goodies song came on how we all would sing so loud and to the people in the next lane. When my friend Jenny left for college in the fall it was quite hard on us all and whenever that song comes on I always reminise on the fun times we had hanging out our senior year.

Argumentative Essay

This essay was actually very fun to do because it gave me insight on some of the pain that my granmother went through. I found out some information about Alzheimer's that I did not know before. Doing this essay inspired me to try to eat better and exercise. I decided to help myself now because if I start early, I will be able to stop the onset of Alzheimer's.

FAFSA

FASFA never grants gives me anything. They only give me a small amount every year. This year they granted me only $3,500 and last year they only $2,500. I always have to take out major loans to pay for the rest of my school, so I guess I am trying to find a loophole. I do get some scholarships, but it is never enough.

NEED A BETTER JOB!!!!!!

I am sick and tired of my motha freakin job!!!!! I don't get but $7:00 an hour and that is no were near enough for what I need to live a good comfortable life!!!! And then they have the nerve to cut my hours because their budget was low!! The people I work with don't make it no better either. It seems that I am never doing my all in all, and I'm just sick and tired of it!!!

CAN'T WAIT TILL THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about taking some summer classes this year but........ I change my mind real quick, cause I really need to focus on making more money so I won't be struggling as much as I have this year. This was my first year of college and all I can think about is the summer so I can get more rest.

One of those Mornings!

When I say that it was one of those mornings I'm sure you all know I'm referring to the morning when everything is going against you. I am pretty sure that everyone has had one but this morning surely topped my week. To start off I live about a half hour away and with traffic lately it has been taking about 45 minutes. As you all know class meets a 8:30 a.m on Fridays. I slept through my alarm and ended up waking up at 8:03a.m, obviously there was no chance of me being on time. I rushed to get ready for class which is very difficult for me. I flew to campus and just when I thought everything was not so bad it got 4 times worse. The route I take was down to one lane and not moving. After the lanes opened up I maneuvered around the best I could without pissing off everyone, I felt like the the guy in Office Space . I got through and made it to the parking structure 6 which is closest to class. As I pulled up it was about 8:50 and I was determined to get to class as soon as possible. I pulled up to swipe my card and enter the parking lot but realized with the rush in the morning I had forgotten to put money on my one card. I reversed and pulled up to an empty spot on the street to try to call someone close enough to a computer to add money. After finally finding someone in my contacts that was actually up I began to explain the process and had my debit card all ready to go. Is I believed I was reaching the "finish line" my wonderful phone lost signal. I sat there and flung my arms around my car hoping to find a signal, but no. Instead I had to drive around campus til finally my phone decided to pick up signal. I called my friend back and finally finished the transaction. I FINALLY parked and ran over to class. And I'm talking a Forest Gump run. I walked into class with barely any time left but the important part is I made it.And sorry for all those who presented today that I missed or walked through the middle of. And that is the end of my morning, hope everyone else had better luck!

Is it HIS Tomb?

I don't know how many people in this class have looked into the so called discovery of Jesus Tomb, but I'm not sure about it. I mean they said their selves that the names Jesus, Mary, Joesph and so on were very popular names back then, so in a way the tomb could belong to anyone. Also I haven't studied the Bible like I should or looked into the Resurrection of Jesus Christ but, I don't recall hearing anything about what happened to his physical body after the three days. I mean did it just "disappeared" "vanish"?

An enjoyable weekend

I went to go check out, the movie The Hills have Eyes 2. It was an alright movie, the first one was much better though. But overall my weekend was pretty good, because I enjoyed it with a special friend.

Favorite Song

One of my favorite songs that stood out for me is, me and my bitch; by The Notorious B.I.G. Just listening to the song mad me realize how my girl was so down for me. No matter what happened, she always stuck by my side. So every time I heard the song me and my bitch, I just thought about me and bitch, and the ride or die connection we had.

Songs

Some of my favorite songs that come to mind right away is Hotel California by the Eagles. The acoustic version brings the memory of hard word. The song is near seven minitues long and has a great rythem. Its flow helps me to prepare mentaly for any type of big event that may come up. This even includes sporting events.
A second great song that comes to mind is In The Sky by TI. It brings back memorys of my gandparents and uncle that have died. Its considered a rap song, but it doesnt swear and is nothing like any rap today that you may hear.

House (My Critical Anaylsis)

This series is about an over zealous doctor and the many miracles that he performs. House is not quite ER or Grey's Anatomy but it is interesting. The highlight of this show is how the main character Dr. House is a jerk to everyone including the patients and still has a job to come back to.

another pointless blog

im behind a blog so i will talk about the most random thing.
i just read someones essay because i didnt have mine done, and i relize i do the same thing. his essay was about how dangerous it is to talk on a cell phone and dtive, and text message to. i know it is dangerous and i know it is wrong but im a teen im prone to make mistakes. but im tryin to be a little more safe like useing a bluetooth and not reply to messages anymore. i do however agree with that persons topic, because many accidents do happen because of poeple taking there eyes off the road.

DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE

The hills have eyes two was one of the worst movies I have yet seen, I went to the movies yesterday and thought it would be a nice scary movie, but it was mostly disgusting and definitely not one to see on a date. But it was a waste of my good hard earned money and please take my advice to not see it. I thought that maybe the first one was better since I never seen it but I also heard that the first one was retarded to. The worst part is how at the end it still continues for a part 3 but lets all pray and hopefully there will be no such thing

Critical Analysis

I'm doing my anaysis on a book I read called Daddys Little Girl. The author is telling me that that living the fast life and being spoiled will set you up for failure in the real world. Some of the main points were that by not working for the things you have can be bad for you. The evidence the author presented was very liable because some of the text was from her past. I take it that some of it was believable. The authors standpoint is that young women should not rely on a man to do everything for them. That doing some things on their own will help them build a great foundation for themselves.
The conclusion was correct I feel because I see some of the things that she talks about everyday. I agree with the author because she first hand went through some of the situations and I have went through some of the same situations. i dissagree with her because she sometimes made light of some of the situations, when knowingly, her opinion was wrong. The strengths of the text was that she actually went through the situations so she knows frist hand. Some of the weaknesses were that she sometimes overexagerated the situations and down played some also. Overall the book was great.

Kalahari Waterpark Resorts

This Spring Break, I had the pleasure of going to Kalahari Waterpark in Sandusky, OH. For anyone who hasn't gone before, I think this would be a fun place to just go strictly to relax. There are many places where one culd let loose such as the spa, nightclub, bar, and restuarants.
I had fun staying by the pool. If anyone is interested in visiting this resort, visit there website at www.kalahariresorts.com.

Wow!

Well I finally just realized how behind i am on all my blogs. So to make a long story short i will most likely be writing a lot and about the topics we had about a month ago. Sorry!!

impounded car

whata fun spring break i had, until this weekend. i was shopping at lakeside mall on saturday morning and i came out and my car was gone, i guess i was parked inncorrectly. so i had to go down to sterling heights police center and find my car. well it was in the impound lot and they were closed until monday. so i forgot my phone and bookbag in my car and i couldnt get them. and stupid me i dont remember any numbers so i was stuck in sterling heights and had to find a way home. so i called my boss , cause thats the only number i knew, so i finally got home like at 930, and i didnt hear the last of it from my mom, so i finally got my car on monday and had to pay like 250 dollars. the worst part was not having my phone for three days.

Supernatural

I wonder if anyone watches Supernatural on the CW. I think that Supernatural is a really good show, but since the ratings are down, the network is planning to pull it off the air. This is a great show and I really hope that it stays on TV. Everyone should tune in and see what's so good.

Freedom Writers

Me and my cousin went to go see the movie "Freedom Writers" at the dollar show. The movie was very good. It was basically about a new English teacher who really tries to get involve, understand, and expose them to new things in the students lives. Unfortunately I couldn't finish the movie because my cousin had to pick up her boyfriend from work, but I do intend to go back to watch the movie again and finish it to the end.

The Topic for my my Dialogue

The topic for my dialogue was the death penalty. I choose that for my topic because it would be more interesting than what is the best way to travel (Which was my original topic). I was the only person that choose this topic. My topic was a good dialogue because the death penalty is a very interesting topic that many people have different views on. I had four different view points. There is a stay at home mother who is about thirty years old. A twenty year old college student, a innocent man who was falsely acused of murder. And a potateo farmer. The story takes place in Idaho at a grocery store the day before thanks giving.

Short Story Topic

My topic for my short story is based on this book I read sometime last year called Jason & Kyra. It is a very good book and story line. It is about these two young adults who are in their last year of high school who end up falling in love with each other. I feel that this was a real good book because it shows that real love can be found at a young age even though it is rare it does exists.

C.R.E.A.M

Cash rules everything around me, cream get the money dollar dollar bills yall. This is a classic quote by the wu tang clan. Which I agree 100% on, but why do people love money so much? Why do people feel their life is better off if they' re rich. I feel that money makes the world go round. And with out it your life can't be complete. That's why I work hard to better my self. I can't be out here starving, I gotta eat!!!

Spring break

I am so looking foward to spring break. All this school work is kinda stressing me out. That is why I plan to chill out and, just relax, and enjoy the little time I have from school. I'm also looking foward to getting rid of this snow and cold weather. I love the spring and summer weather.

Ann Coulter

If you aren't already familiar with Ann Coulter, do yourself the honor of not familiarizing yourself with her. She is the most hateful, evil woman I think I've ever heard speak. She said that the widows of the 9/11 attacks were glad to their husbands died so they can get money, along with a list of horrid things. This week at a white-trash-republican convention, she called Senator Edwards a "Faggot." Honestly, what the hell. I thought this was a word we used in middle school when we made fun of the nerdy kid. But Ms. Coulter turned it into a hurtful word for her own selfish reasons. The worst part about this though, is that she isn't being critisized enough by the media. Had she called Senator Obama, a "Nigger" you know all Hell would break loose and that she wouldn't be making any public speeches any time soon. Unfortunately for gays in this country, they've become the scapegoat for a whole list of problems, including the breakdown of the American family, and the lack of religion in school. Ann Coulter is nothing more than a scared little girl with a hateful heart and no soul. She seems so confident that "Faggots" are going to Hell. If anyone's lucky, she'll get there first.

SSSSOOOOOOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still trying to do my short story!!!! Don't laugh at me!! I know it was do like three weeks ago, but it seems like whenever I try and start to do the darn thing something comes up. Sometimes I feel that life passes too quickly and at the same time doesn't move quick enough. Like with this paper I wish I could freeze time so I could finish the paper, and then I wish I could speed up time to get past school and on to living my life in my career.

One Life to Live

One Life to Live is an okay show, but sometimes the story lines are pretty slow. I really want to see if Todd finds out that little Tommy is his son and I want to see if they let Nash and Jessica finally get together. The other story lines are really long and boring to, so actually I don't know why I am still watching it. I have missed a lot of shows because of classes, but everytime I do get to watch, they are always still on the same story. I guess, I don't know what to think of the show. I know I will still watch it.

American Idol

Okay, so I am an American idol fan and I try to watch every season but this season is the worst by far. Where is the talent? I mean this season is not filled with as much talent as the other seasons. I think American Idol has lost its edge. Everyone sounds the same to me. What the producers of this show need to do is hire me as a judge because the ones they have now are slackin'. I know that it is the beginning but whatever happened to starting things off with a bang.

Dialogue topic

I choose seat belts as a topic for my dialogue. I feel its a good topic because theirs two sides to the argument. Some people feel seat belts are uncomfortable, and that its better to drive without them. Then you have the other side that feels that seat belts are very important and necessary to wear when driving.

Grammy's

I didn't watch the Grammes, but I heard that they were real good. I saw the clip on Yahoo Lunch Music Videos, the performance of Justin Timberlake and the finalist of the My Grammy Moment. That girl could really blow! She had a very pretty voice.

My five questions

1) When you were younger, did anyone encourage you to read?
No not really. Me being the only child in my mom's house encouraged me to read.
2) Would you say that most people today have access to technology?
Yes
3) What do you think a good writer is?
Someone who can get their point across for someone to understand.
4) What would you do to help someone who doesn't know how to use a computer learn how to use them?
Start with what they do know and go from there.
5) Do you know any other languages? How did You learn them?
Very little Spanish, French, and Arabic. I learned it in my schools.

Dialogue Topic

I choose a sport topic for my dialogue. I choose a sports topic because there are many stats and graphs that a person can use when arguing. Sports are also major discussion factors in everyday conversation. Sport are found in various caltures and are meaningful to those caltures. So I thought since sport are a large topic, talked about so much, and in most countries it would be a good topic to put into dialogue.

I'm lost part.2

yeah i dont know what to write about or which assignment this is but if it is about the fictional story we were writing then yeah i wrote about, a young man with a multiple personality disorder. with many other "people" inside of him.. but yeah i think the story is interesting and i hope JILL thinks it is a good story...lol

Helping Words

The response when I got my paper back from my peer he said it was really good. The story was flowing right from the start. He said it had an ending where you just can't put the paper down. The only thing that he said would be good to change is the ending. It was a dramatic ending that ended fast with not much wrap up. I was supprised with how much the story was liked. I did change the ending to give the story more closure but kept the ending the same.

bloggin it up

Im still not sure what i am going to do for my dialogue. I suppose i could have people discussing the true interpretation of Shostakovitch's work, or have military officials trying to decide to denounce him again or not, but that would be hard for me to do, or find resources about. I kind of dont want to pick a new topic, because as said thats like starting over again. Oh well, i guess ill do some more research and try to decide again later.

Dialog Topic

I chose to dialog the topic of health care. It's been talked about in the news recently and seems interesting enough to do a dialog on it. It was hard coming up with more than two sides to the arguement, but it is vague enough to find more. This topic will make a good dialog because I hear politicians do it, so I know that it can be done.

I'm Losing It!!

Okay for starters, I'm not good at science at all. My major is physical therapy and I have six more science classes left. Not good. I'm in bio1510 and I'm struggling. Humm..... All of my other classes are great.(Health and english aren't the hardest classes but they are not really easy either) I need more of a condensed class when it comes to science. I need that one on one help. I don't want to change my major but I dont know what to do. I failed my first test in Bio and its like my motivation to go to lecture is shot to hell. It's like why go to lecture, sit there and listen to her talk and leave still being as empty headed as I was when I walked in. People say get tutors but others say it isnt worth it. I know about the SI lady but her times are janky.(whack) I dont want to fail out it but I dont want to change my major. But I have 6 MORE science classes left as an undergrade.
Clueless In Science

Platos What?

Okay, they really have me with the names that I can hlaf way pronounce. It took me to read almost two pages to realize what this dialogue was really about. Honestly I read a lot of it, but I still dont get the most of it. I tried. Something about a tale or something.

Dialogue

While in class Monday, my group and I decided to do our dialogue on Marijuanna so that is what I will post as my blogg.

M: I've just finished eating and I want a joint. T do you want to smoke?
T: I dont care. (T is easily influenced by his peers)
B: If you all are about to smoke, I'm leaving because Smoking is bad for you and i'm not going to be apart of this.
M: No one asked you. I asked T if he wanted to smoke. Take your square self away from here talking about smoking is bad. It helps me take a load of stress off from my everyday life. God put this weed on earth for us to smoke. I mean you can't eat it, chew it, cook with it, all you can do is grow it and smoke it. I mean think about it.
T: Like I said it doesnt matter. If you want me to smoke with you I will.
B:T, you need to not be so easily influenced. Just because someone askes you to smoke, you do it. Be your own person. I'm leaving.
M: So you gone smoke or not?
T: No
M: I will smoke by myself

My Dialogue Topic

Topic: Sports and Steroids

I choose this topic because I believe that I can make it interesting and enertaining. I'm not sure if anyone has choosen the same topic as me. I believe that I can make my topic very ineresting to my audience. It will have violence, drama, and action. I really haven't figured out how many sides there are to this topic, but there is more than 2.

It's Been Four Years

Yesterday, something amazing happend. I had a canceled class (this class). This was the closest thing to a "Snow Day" that I have had in four years. I went to school in Roseville, and our administration was anti-snow-day. I remember going to school when every city that boarders mine, had the day off. As insignificant as it may seem, being able to sleep in on a random Wednesday in February was something I have longed for now for over four years. My last Snow Day was my 9th grade year, and in Roseville, 9th grade is Jr High. I never once had one my entire high school career.

I have to say, I would have posted this yesterday, but the snow made problems for my Internet connection. Anyways, I just wanted to thank Jill for giving me the best Valentine's Day gift anyone could ask for... 3 extra hours of sleep.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a issue that developed in my short story between the main character and her boyfriend. I think that I will be able develop a design plan and also a interesting dialogue scene about this topic. The seriousness of this topic will be challenged in my dialogue by questioning how and why domestic violence occurs and who the victims are. I plan to use the four characters voices to reflected the research I did on this topic.

My Class

Today, I went to my Econ class because unlike my other teachers, she did not cancel class. When I got to her class, it was only about 7 other students that showed up. My teacher likes to teach a huge class, so she waited about 10 minutes and then decided to write "Class Is Canceled," in big letters, on the board. Everybody was so mad because that was a big waste of time. However, the thing that really pissed me off was how we found out that she knew a lot of people were not coming because the emailed her ahead of time. I guess she thought they were just playing when they said they weren't going to show up. Teachers can be so crazy!!!!

woohoo!

I've never been so gosh darned glad I cancelled class in my life. Even Baker has a snow day today--and they've got this crazy policy about "customer service" that basically states that students pay for class, therefore class must happen. Of course, I still have to come down to Wayne later for the Writing Center and a class, but it's not at 8am...

Anyway guys, you need to post two blogs this week. One is from last week: a short dialogue based upon a picture in your text or on the text's website, and the second has to do with your topic and how you plan to develop it into a dialogue, or whether you think you can. That should lead right into making your design plan, so it's not a waste of your time particularly if you're having trouble getting started.

Reading Comments

I learned from reading the coments that I should have been more specific as to what was really going to happen to my cahracter. I really didn't want to reveal everything because I wanted to put it into my actual story. It suprised me that more people that I thought responed so positivlely to my outline and were actually looking forward to the final product. I will fully develope my characters and situations in my story. PS... After I actually finished the story, I still couldn't come up with a title. This isn't new for me. I never know what the title will be for any of my short stories. While driving to school this morning, it hit me...Simply Because Of Love.

Strawberries and Papayas

Strawberries and Papayas are so very good. I was at home and I decided I wanted a fruit salad, but all I had was strawberries and papayas. I made my fruit bowl with only those two fruits and to my surprise, this way tasted better than eating fruit salad with all kind of fruit. I decided to make a frozen drink with the ingredients I had and that turned out better then the salad. I always loved strawberries, but papayas have just recently been added to my list of great fruits.

Greatest movie

Well my favorite movie is a toss up between Earnest: Scared Stupid and Attack the Gas Station. I have always been a fan of the Earnest movies since Earnest: Goes to Jail. When Earnest Scared Stupid came out it blew me away. I still can't believe how stupid Earnest acts in the movie. He gets put the hilarious situations and they always end ridiculously. Also, in all of his movies he is immortal for some odd reason.

Another great movie is Attack the Gas Station, a South Korean comedy/drama. It involves 4 misfits who choose to rob a gas station one night. Whist doing the evil deed, a customer drives up. Since they didn't want to arouse suspicion, they service the guy. when the man leaves a tip, they get the bright idea of working the gas station for the night. The events that follow are some of the most ridiculous things. How ridiculous? The ending scene involves a giant street fight between the robbers, police, Chinese Food delivery boys, and High School punks. Truly priceless!!

Favorite movie

I'm not sure of having a favorite movie but one of the best i have seen lately was "Blood Diamond". the movie was completely true and for once a someone actually tell the whole story. and the ending was one of the best i have seen because it was a realistic and "happy" ending. it isn't a movie to take the kids to,there are lots of horrific scenes and violence. but i recommend watching it cause you will learn how something so nice as diamonds make a country suffer so much.

THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

My favorite movie of all time is, "Man on Fire". This movie is full of action. It never has a dull moment. I wish I could summarize the movie for you in one blog but I could go on for days. I decided to just copy and paste this plot summary from www.imdb.com*.

Plot Summary for Man on Fire (2004)*

*A wave of kidnappings has swept through Mexico, feeding a growing sense of panic among its wealthier citizens, especially parents. In one six-day period, there were twenty-four abductions, leading many to hire bodyguards for their children. Into this world enters John Creasy, a burned-out ex-CIA operative/assassin, who has given up on life. Creasy's friend Rayburn brings him to Mexico City to be a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos, daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos and his wife Lisa. Creasy is not interested in being a bodyguard, especially to a youngster, but for lack of something better to do, he accepts the assignment. Creasy barely tolerates the precocious child and her pestering questions about him and his life. But slowly, she chips away at his seemingly impenetrable exterior, his defenses drop, and he opens up to her. Creasy's new-found purpose in life is shattered when Pita is kidnapped. Despite being seriously wounded during the kidnapping, he vows to kill anyone involved in or profiting from the kidnapping. And no one can stop him.*

HAPPINESS FOR EVERYBODY, FREE, AND NO ONE WILL GO AWAY UNSATISFIED!

My favorite book of all time is "Roadside Picnic" by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. It is a science fiction short novel (about 145 pages in total) written originally in Russian, but translated by Antonina W. Bouis. However, it is not like a normal western style sci-fi novel or movie. It is much more psychologically driven than what we are used to. There are are several places around the globe called "Zones". In these places, aliens have visited and left several things that seem supernatural or impossible to us. Artifacts and other objects that seemingly disobey the laws of physics and reality. Things that generate unlimited power. Things that will grab you up into what acts like a small black hole and tear you apart. A legendary object is called "the golden orb" which is said to be able to grant a humans innermost desires. There are people who traverse the "zones" to collect and sell these artifats on the black market. They are called STALKERs. The main "zone" exists in what we know as Chernobyl and its surrounding irradiated area. The story follows one of these stalkers, "Red" throughout his life and how the "zone" has changed him and other humans.

Fight Club

The story line for the movie Fight Club has to be one of my favorite, with its crazy and never expected ending. The movie if you haven't seen before is about two guys that are quite different from one another but they do share one thing. They are aggressive and love to fight. Together they create underground "fight clubs" which not only fight but in general cause destruction. The fighting is crazy and Brad Pitt's body is delicious. Anyways, the ending to the movie is the best part, it is unbelievable and tricky. And that is as much as I can say because for those that haven't watched it (which most have) I don't want to spoil the ending.

My Cold

I have a horrible cold and the worst part about it is I got it from people. If one has a cold, why can't they cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze? Why can't they wash their hands properly before leaving the bathroom? Why do they feel it is necessary to talk to people with snot all over themselves? These concerns have led me to be paranoid because I don't want anyone catching one of my colds. That would just be devastating. I could not imagine coming to class with the worst part of my cold, the coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose, and red eyes. I don't know, maybe I should go pass this cold on. I should just cough directly on someone and say, "Oh I just couldn't hold it in!" This has never happened to me, but it did happen to my friend. Nooo, I can't do that to someone. It just wouldn't be right.

Identity

Identity was one of the best movies I have seen because of all the twist and turn. This movie is about a killer who has multiple personalities. The cops and psychiatrists know about his illness, so they go through the process of trying to integrate all his personalities by getting them all in this one spot. Throughout the movie, there is this one identity that kills all the other personalities, which was apart of the integration process, but the psychiatrists did not notice that the integration process was to easy. There is a lot of other stuff that happens, but I fear that I have already said to much. What "got" me about this movie was who the killer was? i always knew that kids were crazy. This really doesn't mean much to me, I just like the movie.

A crazy story

One of the craziest stores Ive seen was on a movie called The Basketball Diary. It was about 3 friends that were All Star players on their high school basketball team. But then they got involved with cocaine, and started to use it all the time. They stop focusing on basketball and lose alot of games.Their hoop dreams when down the drain, and this story showed me how drugs and change your life around for the bad.

Jason & Kyra

I think it was my mom that had told me about this book called Jason & Kyra. I feel in love with that book because it was really well written. You were instantly intrigued with it once you started reading. The book was written by a former teacher from Cass Tech High School, and as you read the story you realize that the story was about some teenagers in Detroit, just under another name. It was about a boy named Jason and a girl named Kyra, who belong to two different types of people or groups. He belong to the popular group, and she belong to the less popular group. It's basicly a love story about how they get together and stay together no matter what is going on in their personal or nonperonal lives.

Guessing Game

There are different ways to communicate with out using words. I never played Pyramid or Catchphrase, so I don't know how u play those games, but games like Pictionary are kind of popular because they are thinking games that will get anyone who is playing the game really involved in it. I like the game because it's fun to try to guess what the other person is trying to describe. I also like Scramble, even though I'm not that good at it, because it encourages you to learn more words.

Words

The work sheet that was passed out in class, really showed how one word can lead up to anothger that may have another meaning from the original word. To me some words make me think about my life and how I would really like to increase the meaning of the words in my life. Words like love, peace, God, & happyness.

Favorite Story

The best story for me has got to be the story lines on the show "Law and Order." The best plots, however, are the ones when that are "ripped from the headline." That's when they take a big story in the news, and turn it into a story that is made for a TV drama. For example, after the Michael Jackson Holding the baby over the balcony incident, "Law and Order" turned it into, what if a celebraty holding their baby over a balcony accedently dropped their baby? It clicks with me because I like real-life kind of stories, and "Law and Order" does that.

A Different Way To Communicate

There are many ways to commuicate a word without actually saying it. One major way is sign language, I personally only know the alphabet so i can't really use this one. Another way is acting the word or phrase out. Plus you could draw what you want to commuicate. I think games like catchprase and such are really fun. They make you really think about how people think about many words. You can use things or situations that people are familiar with to make them guess a word to win the point for your team. One of my favorite games like this is Taboo. Its a team game. You have a card that has a major word( the word you have to get your team to guess) and a list of five words that you cant say while trying to get them to guess. An example might be, the major words are: Bill Clinton, and the five words are: president, white house, hillary, saxaphone, William, and Chief of state. You as the player could say that he was the leader of the country who cheated on his wife. Since everyone knows about this they would automatically be able to answer and you score a point. Its such a fun game and it helps you make connections between words and convey them to other people.

Design Plans

Design plans can help me a lot when I'm writing a paper. It helps keep me focused when I would like to go off topic and probably confuse the reader. It tells me what I am aiming for when I write, which keeps my paper clear and not muddled. It can also help me set a schedule for myself while writing an assignment or something else. Design plans don't have to be just for school papers. It can be used fr whatever you want to use it for, such as a web pages or blogs. I can see myself using design plans much later in life, they are a very helpful and easy way to structure many things.

My Favorite Movie

This movie isn't really my favorite, but it kind of "got" to me. The name of it is the Devil Wears Prada. It got to me because in the movie, this girl gets a job at a fashion magazine office and completely changes everything about herself. All of her friends and her boyfriend, of course, have a problem with it, but it takes her seeing her boss mess over one of her friends to see that this isn't the life style she wants. In my opinion, she should have been able to tell that this job wasn't right when her boyfriend decided to break up with her over this job and they had been together for a long time.

That 70's Show

That 70's show is one of those shows that is so stupid its funny. This sitcom follows a group of teenagers into their adult lives showing the different obstacles that they had to overcome. Although very funny this sitcom has its serious moments. This sitcoms tackles subjects like drugs, teenage parenting, dead beat parents, and true friendships. This show keeps me interested because I like stories that has hidden meanings. It makes the viewer think and develop an opinion about the issues in each episode.

Free Association

Words are very powerful. You can mention one word and it can trigger several different reactions from people. IT can trigger a memory of their lives, pictures, or several other things. While doing the meaning through free association assignment A lot of my words were all connected by school in some way. A big part of my life was spent in school, so it only makes since that most memories come from there. It is cool how people connect words. One word could somewhere down the line connect to something most people at first wouldn't think of. This in the future will make me think about what I'm writing and what other meanings the words I use could have.

My First Book

The first book I read on my own for pleasure was called The Coldest Winter Ever. A friend and I were on the train to Toronto, Canada. She was so wrapped up in the book, she finished it in on our short train ride there. She never told me what it was about, but I could tell it was a great read. Sista Soldier, the author, wrote the book about events that actually happened in her life. After writing two books, Sista Soldier speaks at many conferences as a motivational speaker to young in the inner cities. The book was about a young girl who survived in the inner city projects to making something out of herself.

Favorite Story

One of my favorite movies is Double Take. It has Orlando Jones who gets framed of a murder by federal agents and they are trying to get him to go to Mexico so they can clear it up. Along the way a FBI agent tries to tell him that it is a set up and they just want him dead. The FBI agent is Freddy Tiffany who is accused of murdering the governor when he was last in Mexico, keeps getting blown off because Orlando doesn't believe that he is an agent. Towards the end they get in to Mexico and Orlando finally puts the pieces of the puzzle together and sees that what Freddy was saying was true. The movie applied to me because it is very funny and has Eddie Griffin in it.

Dodge the Lodge

The closure of the Lodge is approaching to fast. I usually take the Lodge to get home on the weekend, but now I will have to take Woodward to 6 mile. The Lodge is supposed to close on February 2. I was on my way to my grandmothers house today and to my surprise, I saw that the Wyoming bridge was already closed. I am very mad because I have to take a detour to get some MacDonald's which is on the other side of the bridge. It is great that they are finally working on the bridges along the Lodge, but it is a huge inconvenience for the people who live right in the construction areas.

Advertising!!

Theft commercial
After watching this commercial and in fact most of the commercials that are played today you can tell there are mainly pathos driven. They are effective because they latch on to your emotions, in this case laughter. Even though identity theft is not a funny thing at all this commercial is telling you the fact that identity theft does indeed occur but though citi bank you can lessen the likelihood. I also believe this commercial is demonstrating the ethos part of rhetoric since the speaker has a different identity than expected, the speaker also appears to be an honest man that has had his money stolen.

Advertisement: Rhetorical Analysis and Audience Analysis

Looking at this advertisement found on YouTube.com, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF3RuVy_qlw), many of the forms of rhetoric discussed in class can be found. In it, the young lady is attempting to get ready for a date by slipping out of different skins, if you will. The woman doesn’t speak, in fact, there is no speaking in the video, aside from the catchy techno music playing in the background. However, there is no need for the woman to speak, because her metamorphosis into “new” people do all the talking for her. But what is really good about this video is the very end, where we see that not only has she been “changing suits” but her date has as well. All of these crazy graphics and effects must be selling something important. Well actually, it’s just a Japanese commercial selling some sort of cookie. This makes it a great appeal to the audiences’ pathos, because it invokes the emotion of sex, because of what the woman is wearing, to sell a seemingly harmless treat for people to enjoy.

Looking at this same advertisement, we can make general ideas as to whom the audience is intended to be. Because it appeals greatly on the idea of a good looking young lady, and an attractive young guy, it can be assumed that the target audience for this particular cookie is young people under the age of 25. This communicates very well to this audience because it appeals to their emotions (pathos) to sell the product.

An advertisement

Downloadable high quality version available: here (please do not spread this link around)

This advertisement if obviously for the male populace. Most video game players are male. Also, as you can tell the character in the advertisement is an incredibly..."built" individual with a gritty look, and tough bulky armor and a huge gun. It appears to be aimed primarily at owners or prospective owners of xbox 360s. Also, in a rather dramatic way, the normal sound and ambiance has been cut out, and replaced by the song "mad world" played by Gary Jules, originally by the band Tears for Fears. Also, there seems to be a secondary audience of people that heard the song and liked it. If one of your favorite song was used to promote a piece of media, you would be more likely to pick up said piece of media.

T.C.A Entry

1.When you were young, did any one encourage you to read?
Yes my loving grandma, and mother encouraged me to read when I was younger.

2.How do you use technology to communicate today? I use cell phones to communicate in today's life.

3. Do you use the internet? What do you use the internet for? Yes I do use the internet. I use the internet for shopping and information.

4.Do you plan on letting your children use computers? Why or why not? What will you let them do, If you do? I plan on letting my children use computers, because it's important to learn how to use a computer. I will let them type and play games.

5. Do you think that computers ultimately benefit or hurt society? In my opinion computers ultimately benefits the society.

TCA!

What do you think keeps some people from learning computers?

Themselves. Thanks to Hollywood, alot of people are stuck in the paradigm that computers are these magical complex objects that are out to get them. If people actually went at them with an open mind, they'd find out they are much simpler then they had ever imagined.

Do you think that computers ultimately benefit or hurt society?

Neither. The people who would use computers to do bad things to others would just find another way to do bad things to those people. People who commit identity theft online would probably just break into peoples houses instead if computers were not around. I have the same opinion on gun control. It wouldn't reduce violence at all, people would just use other weapons such as knives, or blunt objects. People these days are too keen to cure the symptoms, but not the root of the problem.

Do you play games on computers or video game systems? Which? Why do you like/not like them?

I play both computer games and 360 games. I like computer games more because they usually offer more depth. However, my 360 sees more time with friends because it is much easier to set up a multiplayer game in the living room with four people and four controllers than it is to set up a LAN party. I like video games because it gives me an opportunity to do things that are not possible for me in real life.

Why do you think some people believe the internet is going to destroy today’s “youth”?

Because it is. Never before have people been able to gain access to pornography, drug paraphanelia, stolen goods, commit identity theft, mail fraud, or other such things, all within five minutes of each other, and without leaving their bedroom to boot. Myself, I am not proud of this, but I no longer have any concept of value for music or movies. This is all thanks to the internet.

That sort of technology have the various schools you attended have?

Isbester had some sort of old apple iis, I think. I cant really remember that far back. My middle school had some random crappy network of emacs off a shared 64k ISDN line. You can imagine 32 people in “computer class” (or atleast they called it that. I learned nothing from those classes.) trying to surf the web off a shared connection barely faster then 56k. My highschool had deepfreeze’d workstations connected to a windows 2k3 based network. Im not really sure what kind of internet they had, but it topped out at around 50mbits. They also had poor security. The domain controller’s password was only 4 characters long and only numbers.
