This advertisement if obviously for the male populace. Most video game players are male. Also, as you can tell the character in the advertisement is an incredibly..."built" individual with a gritty look, and tough bulky armor and a huge gun. It appears to be aimed primarily at owners or prospective owners of xbox 360s. Also, in a rather dramatic way, the normal sound and ambiance has been cut out, and replaced by the song "mad world" played by Gary Jules, originally by the band Tears for Fears. Also, there seems to be a secondary audience of people that heard the song and liked it. If one of your favorite song was used to promote a piece of media, you would be more likely to pick up said piece of media.

Hrm, so the audience is guys that are wishing they were big strong men? Yeah, that sounds about right. I think the music is an interesting choice though, there's probably a lot more that could be analyzed there. Why a slow song? Why not something louder? etc.
