Technology and Communication

My parents had all of the educational oppertunities that an average person would have. They attended gradeschool, highschool and post secondary education. I think that this is one of the reasons that I am able to attend university and expand my own personal knowledge. Studies have shown that people who's parents attended university have a much greater chance of attending themselves. This is one if those facts that I have learned after years of research on the internet. When I was young, I was introduced to computers in school, and in my peer groups. This contributed to the fact that me, along with the rest of my age group is largely computer literate. Although I was introduced to the computer, no one ever physically taught me how to use all of the features of a computer, such as spreadsheets, word processing, and other things, which all came with experience. Being able to write and communicate your ideas well all comes with being familiar with reading materials, many of which can be found on the World Wide Web. In my oppinion, people become bad speakers because they do not read a lot of scholarly materials, and other things. When poeple use slang words in every day speech, they begins to write in slang terms, and this makes for bad writing skills. This is one of the reasons why being able to have access to a computer is so impoartant. Computers expand knowledge. They are extremely beneficial to the larger society when it comes to learning new things and expressing creative ideas. I definetely am planning on allowing my children access to computers in the future, I think that this is a crucial skill to have in a society that is becoming technologically advanced.
