Autobiography

  • Writing is a form of expression. It is a way that allows individuals to give an audience a glimpse of what their views is on whatever topic. A good writer knows how to grab the target audiences attention with the first sentence and can also keep them interested. A good writer allows the reader to feel the same emotions that they feel through what they write. In high school I had a Literature teacher that would play word games in the beginning of class to "get our juices flowing". She used to say the better your vocabulary, the better your writing would be. I realize now how true this statement is and also how important it is to me now.

  • When it came to writing essays I usually put them off to the last minute. I did this because I discouraged myself from writing. I felt like my skills were not where they needed to be so I did not work to the best of my ability. As I got older I realized that the only person that I was hurting was myself. So I had to learn how to use writing to my advantage, to make the best of my hidden talent.

  • Writing became a hobby for me. On an average day I write at least one poem about whatever I choose. In a way poetry has become somewhat of a stress reliever. The question of whether or not my poetry is good does not matter because it is what I was feeling at that point. Which ultimately means that I was being true to myself.

  • While developing my writing skills I found myself drawn to reading books of all genres. Amongst my favorite books "I know Why The Caged Bird Sings",by Maya Angelou, helped me to realize that everything has its season. That with determination and hope anything is possible. I have other favorite books but there are so many to name it would take forever. What I can say about them is that every author was a good writer.

  • I would consider myself to be a good writer in training. I think that I have grasp the basic concept like sentence development. You know like making sure that the noun and verb agree (LOL). But I think I will allow you the reader to decide whether or not I should drop the training based on what you consider a good writer is.
